The location worked well, and the museum and vault were interesting, though a quick visit would have been enough for us. What really stood out was the staff: everyone was kind, professional, and attentive, easily worth 10 stars. The room was a letdown for the price. Several lights were out, including the overhead light, and after we told the front desk, someone came by but said they didn't know why it wasn't working and would tell a supervisor. Nothing else was offered, so the room stayed very dark in the evening. The floor lamp cords were also visible and looked tacky. My friend listed the broken items when we checked out, and the staff member said she could ask about a discount, but it doesn't look like one was applied. It's not a huge deal, but with the room as it was, I expected a lower price. I wouldn't stay here again, especially with other options nearby.

The historic building and the beautiful, thought-provoking gallery art made the stay feel special, and the room was comfortable. Staff were kind and attentive all the way from check-in to checkout. They also made a big fuss in the nicest way when they found out my birthday fell during my stay: I got a little treat and a handwritten card, which meant a lot to me. Shout-out to Stephanie, Haley, Kiera, Tassia, Sara, Morgan, and Paul, plus Chef David and doormen Theas and Stan. I also want to recognize the young man at the front desk who checked me in February 6th at 4pm. I'm sorry I can't remember your name, but you deserve the mention. I'll definitely come back!

It was easy to get around from this downtown hotel, with lots of good local places within walking distance, and it was quieter than I expected. The rooms were comfortable enough, and having a kitchen in the room was a real plus for a longer visit since we could cook and save money. What made the stay especially welcoming was the staff. They were so friendly and helpful that they learned guests' names and greeted us personally when we crossed paths. I'd absolutely book here again on my next trip to Durham.

The building's history and the fabulous art on display made the hotel experience even better. The staff were excellent from the welcome at the door through check-in and our departure. Thanks, 21c, for a great stay. I'd highly recommend this hotel if you're visiting Durham.

We paid $35 for valet on Friday, then used the free street parking on Saturday. The restaurant is downstairs, with huge artwork on the walls and a swanky feel, and the people working there seem artsy too. Check-in is up on the second floor, which struck us as a little odd. There was artwork of people in all kinds of poses around that area, an unusual amount of one style. Our key was a completely blank white card, presumably for security. The room was nice, and the big black timed shower could fit three people. They set off the fancy design with a cute rubber duck. The bathroom was spacious and comfortable, with thick, sturdy glass walls.
