Comfort Inn & Suites Durham near Duke University

We went for a day visit to Duke, and the hotel was very convenient, about a 5 minute drive away. I’ll stay here next time I visit. I wasn’t expecting much, but was pleasantly surprised. The clerk was pleasant, check-in was easy, and both the hotel and my room were clean with current furnishings. Breakfast was simple but good.

The location is very convenient, but I wouldn’t stay here. Two roaches were already scurrying away as soon as we entered the room. I’d booked a room with an accessible shower, but they tried to put me in one without it. Even if they’d offered the right shower, the roaches would still have made me leave. If you don’t need a roll-in shower and don’t mind roaches, I guess you could go for it.

I paid 450 a night for a truly subpar stay. Breakfast was instant coffee, the drapes wouldn’t close, and there was hardly any noise protection. I know it’s supply and demand, but come on! They make plenty of money fleecing people during graduation and on game days. They could put some of it back into the property. Late-stage capitalism has become ridiculous. Price gouging shouldn’t survive further into the 21st century.

I couldn’t sleep all night because the people in the next room were extremely noisy. There’s a connecting door between our rooms, and it isn’t soundproof at all. It felt like trying to sleep on the street, and I absolutely hated it. This was way too noisy and frustrating, and not worth the money. Very, very bad and uncomfortable for me.
