Hampton Inn Garden City Long Island

The staff are nice, but everything else about this hotel was terrible. The blinds in my room didn't work, there were round bugs, and my girlfriend woke up with bites all over her arms. The place was filthy and disgusting. The walls are so thin you might as well sleep in a cardboard box in Times Square. I've stayed in hundreds, maybe thousands, of hotels, and this was by far the worst stay of my life. Corporate was supposed to contact me about the nasty bugs and my girlfriend's bites, but I haven't heard from them.

The room I ended up in had vomit on the carpet. I called downstairs so I wouldn't be charged for damage, but it was late and I didn't want to move again, so I stayed. In the morning, housekeeping knocked at 8 am. They apologized, so that part wasn't a big deal. But when I placed a DoorDash order while getting ready for work, the person at the counter on 4/2 wouldn't let the delivery person come up. When I first arrived, my assigned room had its door wide open, with all the lights and the TV on. I worried someone might be inside and went back to report it. The man working the desk on 4/1 was great and gave me another room. He later reported that nobody had been in the first room, but housekeeping hadn't checked and reset it. I understand if deliveries aren't allowed up as a matter of policy. But they should first make sure rooms are empty and reset, carpets are clean, and guests aren't being disturbed at 8 am before checkout. It's crazy to me that delivery access was the hill they chose to die on.

When we stayed here last December, the customer service was great. This time the staff weren't friendly, the room wasn't cleaned very well, and they didn't replenish the toilet paper or shower gel. The front desk wasn't very helpful either.

Everyone in the hotel was extremely friendly and helpful. Crystal at the front desk especially stood out, her customer service is second to none. Hands down, the best hotel on Long Island. Highly recommend.
