The short rib raviolo was one of the best things I’ve ever eaten, and the yellowtail hamachi appetizer was another favorite. My sister, mom, and I came for dinner recently and loved everything. It was worth driving two hours for. I’m already thinking about coming back this spring, so please keep that raviolo on the spring and summer menu!
The oysters with cucumber vinaigrette were so good that we ordered them twice, and the crab pasta was fantastic. I missed seeing scallops on the menu, though. We also had the short rib, halibut, and Amish chicken, all of which we enjoyed. The Old Fashioned was spot-on, the dirty martini just right, and our waiter was incredibly attentive. Service was amazing throughout. I’d eaten at 1770 House Restaurant & Inn with friends years ago and loved it, but couldn’t remember the name, only that it had numerals in it. I finally came across it again yesterday while searching for somewhere nice to take friends to dinner. I was so happy to recognize it, and the food was just as delicious as I remembered. The cozy, classy feel and decor are lovely, especially the fireplace, and the bar is great too. It felt like finding an old favorite again. Can’t wait to come back.
The gardens were such a relaxing retreat, especially with the lights hanging in the trees. Room 6 was perfect, with the most comfortable bed, Matouk sheets, and Molton Brown scents and toiletries that made the room smell like a spa. Breakfast was to die for, especially the pancakes and croissants. The rooms are cozy and quaint, and the customer service was amazing. The general manager was so sweet, called ahead to confirm my arrival, and was genuinely excited to see us at check-in. It felt like getting the service of the Ritz, Peninsula, and Aman all in one. One of the best hotels I’ve EVER stayed at, 10/10. We were sad to leave and are already planning a longer return. It’s an ultimate luxury experience at a phenomenal price.
The staff were so warm and welcoming, and I’m already looking forward to another visit this spring. We had a quick winter getaway at 1770 house, where the colonial character of the original building is preserved throughout. The cellar tavern and the guest room’s fine wooden furnishings and fireplaces were especially well done.
April went above and beyond, helping us choose the 1770 Inn over the Baker house Inn and putting together a whole itinerary for my parents. Their vacation wouldn’t have been what it was without her help. I’m forever grateful to April and the entire staff. My wife and I arranged the trip, and my parents had a wonderful stay. They raved about the inn, restaurant, and service. Now the whole family plans to make this a tradition and spread the word.
