Sandy Neck Motel

The owner treats potential guests with respect and is thoughtful about their needs. He’s very nice, and this will be my first choice when I stay on the Cape.

Clean and adequate, but the room felt dated. It could use some cosmetic updates.

The grounds are gorgeous, and the location is fantastic for the beach, with a lovely walking path nearby. Our stay was pleasant, and I’d come back. Even with beaches all around, the room was spotless, without a bit of sand. You can tell the housekeeper works hard. I did wish the water heated up sooner. It took ages for the sink water to get even warm. The walls are thin, too, and we could hear the room next door through the bolted door, which doesn’t block much sound.

I’m rooting for Team Sandy Neck, and I hope they sort out the little things that kept this stay from feeling as good as it could. Our wall Heat/AC unit was fussy. We reset it three times before it finally worked properly, which was a pain since the room was in the 50s when we arrived on a cold day. We also couldn’t get the in-room coffee maker to brew, even after downloading the manual. It’s a Keurig knock-off, and it shows. The vending machine only took coins when we wanted a late-night snack. I like renovated old-school motels, but when there’s no person on site for check-in, the basics really need to work. The rate was fair, the location is great, and the renovated rooms were clean. It’s a decent place near the beach for the price. We’ve stayed at several similar places over the years; they tried for excellent, but this one fell short. I hope these issues are fixed by next year.
