Room 7 was roomy, with two beds, one and a half baths, and a small porch. Joey was at check-in when we arrived in the off-season and gave us a complimentary upgrade based on availability. He was helpful and shared what we needed to know for the stay. The temperature was hard to control. I set the thermostat to 65, but the room climbed to 72 and wouldn't cool down, so we opened the porch door. Later we ran the heat pump AC overnight at 66, yet it still stayed at 71. I also noticed a patched bathroom ceiling from old water damage, a toilet that could've been cleaner, mirror splatters, and a rusty bathroom radiator. Those things didn't spoil the stay, since we were out most of the day and were comfortable returning to the calm, quiet room. We had a very positive visit and would stay again.

The property was quaint and clean, but we didn't see anyone who worked there during our two-night visit. Rooms 4 and 5 were unbearably hot, and the thermostats wouldn't turn the heat off. It reached 84 or higher inside. The first night, opening the window didn't help because it was warm outside. The next day was cooler, and with the window open all day, we got room 4 down to 76 and room 5 to 74 at best. Friends in another room had the same issue. Dogs are allowed, but some guests didn't pick up after their large dogs, so watch your step. Coffee and tea were offered, but no water.

We liked the shared spaces best during our two-night visit. The living room, kitchen, and coffee bar were all well organized, and the location was really nice. Our room was small, with just enough room for our things. It seemed to preserve the old house's original features, including small doors, low ceilings upstairs, and an old pink bathroom. It was a nice chance to experience an older house.

My wife and I had a wonderful stay here in the second week of August. Rugosa Guest House is delightful, comfortable, well equipped, and well located. We loved the art in the imaginatively decorated common areas, and the bar/lounge opens onto a spacious patio with plenty of furniture. There's a communal feel, with a shared kitchen stocked with cookware and utensils. Guests keep drinks in the shared fridge, and nobody takes anyone else's things. The rooms are nicely equipped and the beds are very comfortable. By car, it's a short trip to Cook's Brook Beach and First Encounter Beach, my two favorite Cape Cod beaches. This place is a gem, and my wife and I couldn't have enjoyed ourselves more. Review sites tend to draw people who look for fault in every little thing, so I'd take overly critical reviews of Rugosa Guest House with a grain of salt.

A home away from home in Eastham, right on Route 6, Rugosa Boutique Guest House is affordable, cozy, clean, and comfortable. It's convenient for beaches, restaurants, and shops, and hanging out there becomes part of the vacation. I loved sipping the coffee they provide on the beautiful patio by the goldfish pond while reading. The friendly staff are happy to help with whatever you need. The rooms feel magical, with wooden floors, four-poster beds, and art all over the walls that pulls you into Cape Cod's past. I absolutely love this place. We'll be back.
