Hilton Garden Inn Minneapolis/Eden Prairie

The staff were very friendly, and breakfast was good. The room, though, smelled like mildew, and there was water damage on the bathroom cabinets. I could hear the person above me walking heavily and flushing the toilet at night. The lobby smelled like wet dog all weekend. In the fitness center, the Peloton and treadmill TVs wouldn’t connect, the 25 lb weights were falling apart in my lap, and one treadmill wouldn’t speed up.

We stayed from 9/8-9/11, and I’ve never had such friendly service at a hotel, even after dozens of work trips and stays in fancier places. My husband was in town for a nearby work course and I got to come along. The rooms were decent, the bedding comfortable, and the mattress firm without being rock hard. The TVs felt a bit small to me, though we barely used them. We didn’t use the pool or gym, but the gym looked nice. Our booking had the wrong rate, but they included breakfast anyway to make up for the mix-up. The waitresses were wonderful, and when I asked to bring breakfast to the room, they gave me takeout containers. They also gave me a late checkout since my husband’s course ran until 4pm on checkout day. Ask nicely and they’ll probably help if they can. We’ll be back. Seriously, what a great stay! The room was spacious and clean, and I liked having both a breakfast buffet and made-to-order options. It’s nice that the hotel is a little secluded, though the location can be hard to find.

The staff were friendly and the rooms clean, but I left disappointed. Only the first-floor ice machine works. The pool room was too warm, and the Jacuzzi was broken, with only the foot jets sort of working. We’d specifically asked about the pool and Jacuzzi before booking, so they should have told us. They said to enjoy continental breakfast from 7-10, but didn’t mention it cost $16.95, and it wasn’t worth that price. Not the worst hotel I’ve stayed at.
