The porches, roomy living areas and bedrooms, and all the walks to the beach, town, dinner, coffee, and movies made this stay memorable. Captain Morse Home is right in the middle of Edgartown village, with lots of amenities and space. If you're thinking about booking it, I have three words for you: Go For It.

We had a family of 14 at The Captain Morse House for Thanksgiving week in 2016, and it was absolutely perfect. The shops, restaurants, and everything else the island offers were within walking distance. November was the “off” season, but we loved experiencing the cooler, wetter fall weather, especially coming from the Midwest.

The back yard was idyllic and the beds were very comfortable. Captain Morse House is exquisite, with a perfect N. Water Street location and the best porch in the world. It’s well equipped, and just a short stroll to the Light House and Harbor View for a glass of vino. Thank you Platt Johnson!!

We used this as home base for a week when my daughter got married, with the wedding just blocks away at the Harbor View Hotel. The rooms were stunning, the porch was beautiful, and the backyard was great. There were plenty of bathrooms, and we were close to the water, shops, and restaurants. Can’t wait to book again.

We stayed in the East Wing, and it suited us perfectly. The house has two sides, each elegant in its own way, and Bettina, the major domo, and Platt, the owner, were both lovely. It’s a historic, spacious, comfortable home in a great spot in town, with five bedrooms, a comfy living room, formal dining room, excellent kitchen, and the best porch ever. There are bikes, two barbecues, and a green backyard lawn with chaises. It feels airy in good weather and cozy on rainy days, a welcoming place to stay on Martha's Vineyard. For a quintessential Vineyard experience, book the Captain Morse. We’ll be back next summer. Rob C
