Ellen made our visit better in so many little ways. She left a kind note in our room, checked that we had everything we needed even when we weren’t at the hotel, and got excited with us about our plans. Since she’s lived there for years and knows everything, she helped us put together a good plan for the visit. She also carefully tested breakfast recipes, including an experimental jam she made for us one morning. Her presence made everything better. We even wanted a picture with our hotel host so we’d remember her warm, kind, world-class hospitality. Ellen is a Martha’s Vineyard treasure who should be protected at all cost! The hotel was wonderful, too. It’s just a very short walk from everything, while being set far enough from downtown, and the courtyard was a lovely place to relax.

The fresh baked goods throughout the day were a favorite, especially the amazing sweet potato scones. The staff were friendly from the moment I arrived, and The Richard has a cozy, inviting feel that’s both stylish and comfortable. It’s right downtown in Edgartown, with shops and restaurants steps away, and the shuttle to Oak Bluffs is less than a three-minute walk. Exploring the island was easy and stress-free. A warm, charming stay with thoughtful details, and I can’t wait to return.

We love this place so much. The staff are warm, helpful, and professional, and the flowers, sitting area, and fire are priceless. Breakfast is amazing, and the afternoon cookies are warm and truly delicious. We’d hoped to stay closer to the water, but I’m so glad we chose the Richard. It’s handy for buses, shopping, and restaurants.

Ellen was so welcoming, and the two staff members we met were amazing. The homemade pastries and granola were lovely, and both the grounds and room were beautiful. Such a cozy, lovely place. Everything felt perfect, and I’d definitely return, especially as a couple.

Kate was friendly, helpful, and accommodating. I was able to check in early and hang out in the courtyard after checkout. Such a cute boutique hotel, and their homemade cookies are the best!
