Americas Best Value Inn Edgewood

The strangest part of the stay was seeing someone cook a turkey in a trash can in the parking lot. In the room, the sheets had burn holes, cleaning had been poor, and I found a roach in the bathroom. The mattress also had black mold on it. I paid a $100 deposit for my dogs, who stayed in a cage while I was away, but got only $25 back because they said they had to sweep up dog hair. That’s $75 for sweeping. I can’t work out how to post pictures, but I’ll update this if I figure it out.

The rooms are decent, but getting online was nearly impossible. You can barely browse, my son couldn’t even get a speed test to run, and they block most YouTube, Discord, and gaming sites. My sons ended up using my phone hotspot. There were hardly any outlets, and most were already occupied by the microwave, fridge, and heater/AC. On my first stay I had a table and chairs. When I asked the front desk clerk for the same setup this time, he locked the door on me as I approached and waved me to the night window at 5:10 pm. He never answered the request, and I didn’t get a table.

Trash was scattered around the grounds, and there were roaches throughout my room. The sheets and towels had ink stains, and the housekeeper walked right over the trash. People outside were loud enough to hear from the room, and quiet hours clearly weren’t observed. The General Manager needs to be fired. Worst place I’ve ever stayed.

The beds are soft and comfortable, but there are roaches and the towels they give out are dirty. They also turn off the hot water after 10 am. Apart from two people at the desk, the whole place is a pain. Staff and regular guests seem to listen in on everything. There are holes cut in the curtains, apparently so staff can walk by and look in, and most doors don’t have top locks. People whisper through the doors and walls in a way that feels like they’re trying to scare guests off. It’s weird here, and the police are around a lot. That’s not necessarily bad, but it stood out. You get what you pay for, I guess.
