Holiday Inn Express & Suites Edinburg- Mcallen Area

Edward, the supervisor, was a huge help. He was professional and warm, and that kind of leadership showed in the welcoming atmosphere and service across the hotel. I’d stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for friendly hospitality.

We chose this Holiday Inn Express in Edinburg because we needed to be near the expressway, and that worked well. Chipotle and Dutch Bros are across the street, though most other restaurants are a substantial walk away. The hotel has paid laundry machines, with supplies for sale, and both the washer and dryer worked well. Our room was spacious, with two comfortable, nicely sized queen beds and pillows labeled soft or firm. The shower drained well and had good pressure, but the toilet handle was cracked and the water kept running after a flush. My husband had to open the tank and adjust the float. We also had to request extra towels each night. There were four of us, but housekeeping left only two or three bath towels. The main floor restroom was repeatedly dirty, short on toilet paper, and had no hand soap. One elevator chimed loudly enough to hear down the hall and in our room, which made it hard to sleep. The hotel could use maintenance and care. Breakfast varied by day. On our first morning, there weren’t enough staff to keep things replenished while it was busy. The second morning, the food seemed fresher and everything was well stocked. We didn’t get a chance to eat there on the third morning.

Breakfast was good, especially the bacon and eggs, and the refried beans were a nice touch. I liked the muffins too. Check-in was friendly and quick, the room was clean and great, and checking out was easy. Parking was easy to find, and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. The pancake machine wasn’t working, and the orange juice wasn’t very good.

I booked two nights at HIE Edinburg for work near a site outside town. There was a nasty sewage smell in the hotel, strongest on the ground floor. I asked to move upstairs. The fourth floor smelled less, but I found cockroaches in the room and had to book another hotel late at night. I told the front desk I was leaving because of the roaches, yet they still charged me for one night and refused to refund it, even though I’d barely been in the room before spotting one and hadn’t made a mess. They deny having bugs, and the plumbing smell seems to be an issue they aren’t fixing. The customer service was just as bad. Learn from my mistake and stay elsewhere. This place is gross.
