Jackson Inn

The rooms were usable and clean in the main areas, but there were bugs, cobwebs, and water damage in corners and on the walls. There was no breakfast, despite the advertising, which was either false or out of date. After calling to check that there was a vacancy, we arrived late at night with my wife and kids in the car. The clerk/caretaker showed me a room whose door wouldn’t lock or latch, and said it would be fine to sleep there and leave in the morning. The wind could have blown it open. I refused that room; the next one had a working door, so we checked in. Something felt off, and we were glad to leave. This felt like a sketchy 1-star place, not a 2-star with a 4.0 average. I would NOT stay again.

The owner was accommodating and moved me after my first room smelled of stale smoke and the door lock didn’t work properly. The beds in the new room were clean and comfortable. Pets are allowed, but the fee has to be paid in cash. I’d probably stay again if I had to.

We checked in at 2 a.m. and I felt safe doing it. It was so quiet, and I was tired, so I went straight to bed, got a few good hours of rest, then hit the road again. Staying here made the trip much more enjoyable than driving the whole 10 hours.

The staff were nice, and the A/C worked great, which I was grateful for. But the bathroom ceiling had a lot of black mold, and I’m pretty sure the sheets and pillowcases hadn’t been changed since the previous guest.
