Ramada by Wyndham West Atlantic City

It was somewhere to sleep, but parking was a mess and police were there every night. The room signs were so small that finding a door was difficult. I’m pretty sure the sheets hadn’t been cleaned, so I slept on top of the bed with my clothes on. The alarm clock was broken, and the toiletries and snacks were past their sale dates.

This was my fourth time back, and the pool is open. 🌞 The staff are the kind I appreciate: friendly and welcoming without being over the top, just sincere. I can’t remember seeing the manager without a smile or avoiding guests, and that attitude seems to carry through the whole team. The place is clean, breakfast is good, and it’s easy to get to AC by public transport or your own car. I got the great stay I expected.

I left after the first night of what was meant to be a three-night solo stay. In the morning, while I was lying in bed without clothes on, a man I didn’t know opened my door with a key card. I was lucky I’d put the chain on. He ran away, and he was dressed casually, so I knew he wasn’t a cleaner. I reported it straight away. Staff showed no sympathy and said they’d need to check the camera to see whether it really happened, then promised to contact me ASAP. It’s been over a week and I still haven’t heard from anyone. When I try to speak with someone, I keep getting the runaround, and I haven’t received my refund. I left immediately because the place didn’t feel safe.

We only stayed because we’d driven for hours, arrived late, couldn’t get an immediate refund, and had our own covers that we’d checked for bedbugs. After seeing photos of the bed in the first room, the front desk person didn’t offer money off or even a late checkout. The room smelled awful and the covers were filthy. Spider webs were everywhere, the carpet was dirty, and you could barely see through the windows. The tub drained poorly, and the drink machine seemed out of date. The iron was chained so tightly to the board, which had a dirty cover, that I couldn’t iron my clothes. Breakfast looked disgusting: toast, cereal, and maybe bagels. It didn’t look fresh, the cereal seemed stale, and the bread was hard. I could say a lot more, but I won’t let this happen to us again.
