The Point Casino Hotel

The scenery is beautiful, and the staff have always been really helpful. I’ve visited several times and never left disappointed, which is saying something for someone used to casinos. It’s about 20 minutes from the ferry, and the ride over is worth it. The casino is small and quaint, and the payouts seem better. They have both smoking and non-smoking rooms. I haven’t tried the hotel yet, but I’m looking forward to a weekend there.

This is our favorite local casino. The table games are a lot of fun thanks to the great dealers and floor staff, and everyone we’ve encountered has been attentive. We’ve enjoyed all the food we’ve tried, including the pizza, which is well priced for the portions. The Tuesday weekly specials are great too. We haven’t stayed at the hotel. One thing to know if cigarette smoke bothers you: smoking is allowed throughout the casino, even at the tables, though there is a smaller non-smoking slot area.

The shower was the room’s best surprise. It had a rainfall head plus a lower horizontal one, and both could run at once, which felt almost like a spa upgrade. The bed was comfortable too, with a pillow-top mattress that made the King feel like a real step up from the Queen Jen and I have at home. The square pillows, though, were baffling. They felt like geometry homework, and definitely weren’t helping sleep posture. The room had a clean, updated feel, plenty of USB and power outlets in convenient spots, a large TV, and comfortable lounge seating. Towels were decent, somewhere between resort-fluffy and gym sandpaper. We were there for just 9.5 hours, with about 8 of those spent sleeping, so the hotel did what we needed. Keep in mind that this is an old-school casino with smoking and non-smoking areas. My fiancée’s allergies flared up pretty badly during our stay, so smoke exposure is worth thinking about if you’re sensitive or allergic. My main takeaway: comfortable bed, strong shower, modern amenities, and some very questionable pillow choices.

It was a smooth drive from Lynnwood to the ferry and across to Kingston. My wife and I had a great trip. The casino wasn’t too crowded, which I liked, and we gambled late into the night and again early the next morning. Best part, we left as winners.
