Days Inn by Wyndham Hot Springs

The room door wouldn't close all the way, with punch marks in the walls and doors, and at night people banged on our door and shouted. It was terrifying. We'd already dealt with two rooms that weren't fit for a stay: the first reeked of smoke despite being marked non-smoking, and its AC didn't work. The next room was a little better, but the sheets had cigarette holes, the towels had hair on them, and the place looked rundown. Its AC quit after a few hours, too. We couldn't ask for another room by then. We learned our lesson about cheap hotels. I wouldn't put my family's safety at risk here.

The only thing this place has going for it is being near the historic downtown strip. The room and grounds were a letdown, and we would have left if we hadn't prepaid. The listing made it look like a clean chain hotel, but the facility seemed untouched for well over a decade. Our door barely locked, and strangers knocked on it twice. A sign at the desk said locals from about ten nearby cities needed to pay a $150 cash deposit. The pool shown online was covered and had apparently been that way for a while, with weeds and dirt around it. Inside, it was over 100 degrees outside and the room had no AC running. It took more than 12 hours at the highest setting to cool down, and despite asking twice for a remote, we never got one. The shower drained in over 30 minutes and had almost no pressure. The bathroom vent was uncovered and disgusting, and used pillowcases from the previous guest were left in the room. This chain hotel isn't living up to its brand's standards.

I declined the room they offered after I looked inside. Both beds were a mess, the room was generally disgusting, and some mystery substance had spilled everywhere. They told me three guests had “only stayed for 15 minutes.” I had a reservation, but was told there were no rooms because of “water damage,” though they might find something. The front desk people were certainly friendly, but I believe they were lying about rooms and trying to get guests to pay for places that hadn't been cleaned or sanitized. Reviews describe the same problem going back years, so it seems unlikely to be some recent water damage. In my view, the staff handling this has no morals. This was the worst hotel I've ever been to, and it shouldn't be open. I found a decent place a block down for the same price. Don't stay here.

Roaches were all over the room: on the floor, bed, lamp, toilet, shower, and AC unit. I killed two and saw several more alive. The room looked low budget and uncared for, and there were a few unsavory people around the hotel, from homeless people to what looked like sex workers. Management refused to accommodate me in any way. I asked several times for a refund and was denied. They called the cops to get me off the property and were willing to leave me stranded without money for another room. This isn't a place for families or anyone with standards. Do not book here.
