Motel 6 El Centro, CA

I was braced for a letdown, but this place turned out weirdly decent. Check-in was fast, and the front desk lady was polite. My key worked the first time, a real “Motel 6 miracle.” The room was clean-ish and smelled faintly of cleaning products. No strange marks on the sheets, the shower had good pressure, and the TV, fridge, and toilet all worked. The AC was ice cold too. Someone knocked on my door at 10 pm, but I figured it was an accident. Other than that, it was quiet apart from freeway noise coming through those thin walls. The towels were threadbare, and the mattress felt like a cot. There are a few nearby restaurants and a Gulf gas station, plus a very accommodating truck parking lot. The area has a nice little abandoned desert charm. No coffee or breakfast. Would I return? Sure. This Motel 6 is the Ritz of the roadside, though I’m sure your results will vary. 4 outta 5 from me, keep on keeping on!

It’s an older hotel, but the rooms have been completely redone and look clean and modern. The staff were great!

I’ve been staying at Motel 6 my whole life, and this property still pleasantly surprises me with how tidy, clean, and hygienic it is. The person I really want to mention is Tahyde at the front desk. She went out of her way to help, and she was fun, capable, and one of the best Motel 6 employees I’ve dealt with. I’m not related to her or anything 😆 She’s smart and, above all, kind, which feels like a rare superpower these days. If she doesn’t get promoted or a raise at some point, there’s no justice in the universe!
