Spark by Hilton El Paso University

I drive all over the US, and whenever I stop in El Paso I stay at the Spark. Jasmine at the front desk made a real difference. She checked me in smoothly, patiently answered my questions, and shared some helpful local suggestions. Everyone made me feel welcome from the start. The hotel has a fresh, modern feel, and my room was comfortable and had what I needed to relax. Breakfast was included and had a decent selection. It's clean, pleasant, and a welcome change from the usual hotel atmosphere. I'll be back, and I'd recommend it to anyone visiting El Paso.

I checked in around 6 pm last Friday, March 27, 2026. So far, so good, and I'll return. The front desk could have been more attentive, courteous, and informative, though. Housekeeping took away the bar of soap and didn't leave another, and the lights and exhaust fan were left on. The body wash bottle in the tub was completely empty too. Those little details need attention. This is still one of my top three choices at ELP.

The rooms were clean, but the place looked like the contractors stopped halfway through the build. The finish felt sloppy and cheap. There seem to be two buildings. The lobby restrooms in the main one were closed, and I was directed to the other building. Its rooms and hallways looked badly damaged, with what seemed like mold and water damage. The restrooms there were out of order too. After a long drive, all I wanted was a bed and a roof, but even for a lower-cost option this was a miserable stay. I booked through Hilton Rewards and still waited 20 minutes to check in at 1 am because reception was empty. The morning staff were friendly, but overwhelmed and rushing around. By 7 am the bagel bar wasn't stocked, there was no cream cheese, knives, napkins, or oatmeal spoons. The ice machine worked, but the water station was unavailable and waiting for repair. The hotel seemed understaffed, with no manager on duty; the crew were trying hard to keep things moving, and other guests and I pitched in where we could. I should've kept driving.

They never came to clean our room during the three nights we were there. The service was awful, the shower leaked and went cold quickly, and there was hair in both the sink and shower. Our child got chocolate frosting on the sheets, and I understand that can be difficult to clean. There were also some chips on the floor. They charged us a $250 damage fee, saying the chips were embedded in the carpet. That seems way too much for something a vacuum and washer could handle. How can a vacuum not pick up things on the floor, especially chips? This hotel is a POS. I do not recommend staying here at all.
