Being from Arizona, I was surprised by how much the area around Elgin felt like the Midwest. It added to the fun of our anniversary sunset ride at Double R Ranch. We stayed in the order the horses set out, but still had enough freedom to enjoy ourselves without feeling unsafe, even though I’d never ridden before and my wife had only gone a few times. I’d called ahead, and they matched us with horses suited to our sizes and experience, which made a big difference. The scenery was beautiful, the staff were accommodating, and we got great pictures. Each horse really does have its own personality. We would’ve stayed overnight if we’d had time, but the sunset ride alone was well worth it. We’ll definitely be back!

The five-day birthday stay at Double R was a dream come true for this first-time solo traveler. I love riding and adventure, and the ranch let me experience daily rides, weather permitting, along with life at a working ranch. I had hands-on instruction in different parts of ranch life, nutritious home-style meals, and a beautiful casita overlooking the Arizona horizon. The horses have so many distinct personalities, and the staff shared it all with warmth, wit, and humor. They even surprised me with a birthday cake, a thoughtful touch I’ll remember. I was a little nervous traveling alone, but Ron made sure I was taken care of from the moment I left the airport. Will and Renee guided our rides and made each one its own enjoyable adventure, matching horses thoughtfully to my skill level. When I pushed myself to try a horse that required more skill, Will patiently taught me how to handle the challenge. It boosted my confidence in the saddle tenfold. No photo, video, or review can fully capture Double R Guest Ranch’s beauty or hospitality. As a working ranch, it let me really immerse myself in ranch life and fulfill my cowgirl dreams. If you want an authentic, immersive ranch experience with wonderful people, outstanding horses, and unforgettable memories, this is the only place you’ll ever need.

The all-inclusive setup made it easy to relax, with meal times planned and provided. Sharing meals felt like a family gathering, with warm conversation, laughter, and a sense of connection. Karen and Renee also took special care with my wife’s gluten sensitivity, making sure she was looked after at every meal and felt comfortable and included. That meant a lot to us. Our Valentine’s weekend at Double R Guest Ranch was a wonderful getaway. Ron and Trina clearly take pride in making guests feel special, and we felt welcomed and cared for from the start. The riding was peaceful, scenic, and refreshing, and the knowledgeable wranglers made us comfortable while showing us spectacular southern Arizona landscapes. You don’t need to be experienced to enjoy the horses and trails, or even just spending time around the horses. We also went to a rodeo in nearby historic Tombstone, yes, the one from the movie, and explored shops nearby. That gave the weekend an authentic, fun feel. Double R Guest Horse Ranch gave us more than a weekend away, and we’re already looking forward to returning. We’ll cherish the memories.

We meant to stay four days at Double R Ranch, but loved it so much we stretched the trip to eight. The location, accommodations, horses, and people all exceeded what we expected. As seasoned equestrians, we especially enjoyed the well-trained horses, friendly wranglers, and exciting trails. There are mounts and trails for every riding level, too. Every horse belongs to the ranch. Many were rescued from difficult circumstances and now live as beloved members of the ranch family. That’s the kind of place Double R Ranch is: we arrived as guests, made friends, and left feeling like family.

My fiancee and I went on a couples sunset ride, though we didn’t stay at the hotel. The ranch hands were friendly and full of information. Max and Cardio, the horses, were the stars of the ride. We hope to return someday.
