Elko NV Travelodge

The front desk staff were as unwelcoming and rude as the hotel itself. The room smelled rotten, the carpet was torn, and the mattress was very bad. Why is this place still open? The icing on the cake was paying $200 USD a night because of a mining event in Elko. It doesn’t deserve a single star, but I had to give it one to submit this review.

A Travelodge is usually last on my list. Travelodge and Super 8 are the cheapest rooms in town, and they can work if you only need sleep before driving the next morning. But the person at the desk ruined any chance of a good rating. The parking lot was empty, yet the only room available was by the street, across from the stairwell and side exit. I was awake all night from traffic and the access door slamming. The curtain was torn, so people on the street could see in. The blow dryer was falling off its wall bracket, the mirror’s bottom bracket had pulled out of the wall, the free WiFi had no internet, and the side door locks didn’t work.

The room and bed were fine, the blankets were clean and comfortable, and everything worked. But housekeeping disturbed us at 8 AM, even though checkout was listed as 11. I’ve never had a hotel bother us that early.

Horrible. My son woke up with a rash and hives all over his body, and they lasted all day even after a shower and Benadryl. Either the bedding wasn’t washed or there was mold in the room. Just because it’s the cheapest place I’ve ever slept doesn’t mean hygiene and cleanliness standards should drop. Do not recommend.
