Elkton Lodge - Newark - Elkton - University Gateway

The room seemed clean and was adequate, though the sheets felt really rough. It definitely smelled of cigarette smoke, and there were buckets of sand outside every room, so I'm sure people smoke a lot. I picked the location myself, so I can't complain about it. I won't stay again, but it wasn't so bad that I ran away screaming.

I'm picky about motels and usually won't stay just anywhere, but this place is a hidden gem. The room was clean, with no stains on the sheets, pillowcases, towels, or anything else. The guy at the front desk had great hospitality, and everything went well from check-in through departure.

It's old, but clean and they seem to be trying to update it. Fine for one night. The bathroom opens partly into the bedroom, so there's no privacy for washing, shaving, or getting ready when someone else is doing the same.

We spotted this place on a trip back home and stopped in. So glad we did. Drew was welcoming and friendly. We called just ahead, and he set a room aside for us and shared loads of helpful information. The beautiful room and the way he treated us are why we'll come back. He made us feel like family while still showing respect for his work.
