The salad bar was the highlight for me. There were two bars with plenty of fresh choices, and I made a tasty salad, though I piled on more than I could finish. Cindy liked her bacon burger and fries. My lobster bisque was just OK, and it came almost cool, which I didn’t like. We both had water with lemon. We had lunch at ALL ABOARD CAFE & INN on Tuesday, June 5, 2018. The quaint building and atmosphere were pleasant, and the place filled up as lunch went on. At first only two of the eight or nine tables were occupied; by the end, nearly all were taken, along with seats in the small private dining room at the front. It’s seat-yourself. We picked a table, and the waiter came by soon after for our drink order and to bring menus. I tried to order a special posted outside, but learned it was only available at dinner. The board didn’t say which meal the special was for, and probably should have. The waiter wasn’t very attentive. We had to ask for water even though he passed by several times. Given the cozy cafe, I’d expected a friendlier, more welcoming dining experience, and that was disappointing. Still, we enjoyed lunch overall and will return.

The fries came out hot and were really good. We shared a tasty cheeseburger, though I forgot to take a picture. Lettuce, pickles, and tomatoes came on the side, along with single-serve ketchup and mustard packets if you want them. You order and pay at the counter, then get your food in takeout containers. You can eat there if you like, but it isn’t table service.

I’ve stayed here and eaten at the restaurant, and the hotel is lovely, with a few roomy, nicely decorated rooms and good wifi, which had been a problem for me lately. It isn’t in central Ely. That worked well for the railroad museum and for me passing through, but it’s less convenient for nightlife or casinos. Dinner was fine. The ravioli was tasty and filling, though it wasn’t haute cuisine. Breakfast suited the place better, with classic diner food that set me up nicely for the day’s drive.

Kiss my keto kaboosie and color me happy! I only ate at this adorable cafe, didn’t stay at the inn, but there’s a lot to like. The food was hot, fresh, authentic, down-home grub, and the menu felt pretty sophisticated for the prices. I’m all about simple food done well, even with all my travels. ALL Aboard is next to the train station and has a busy, modern-day 1800s town kind of feel. As someone eating keto, I need fresh food, protein, and plenty of fat. I wasn’t disappointed. You won’t be either.

After a long day on the road, this was a nice place to stop. It’s a charming little cafe in a well-kept old building. I had the salad bar and a buffalo chicken wrap, and everything tasted really fresh.
