Timber Bay Lodge & Houseboats

Drew and Janet made us feel so welcome, and the sauna was a lovely way to wind down at the end of the day. We had a peaceful, relaxing weekend with our dogs at this beautiful property. Everything was clean, comfortable, and well cared for. We’re already looking forward to coming back in summer, maybe even trying a houseboat for our Honeymoon!!🌲✨

We had a great time on the water and nearby trails, whether cruising on the houseboat, taking the speedboat out, or hiking on the islands. When the weather didn't cooperate, the game room at the Trading Post was a handy backup. Cabin 4 was cozy and comfortable, with a nice lake view. The peaceful setting made it easy to unwind, and Janet, Drew, and their team were so welcoming. It was our first stay at Timber Bay, and now I understand why people come back year after year. Already counting down to our next visit. Thanks for making it such a magical place!

The damaged boat was left with us for several days, even though it had a large hole, and we were told it was safe to use. That was seriously concerning from a safety standpoint. We had bought boat insurance directly from the lodge, but after an accident the owner demanded more than $6,000 out of pocket, saying he didn't want to use his “premium” insurance in case his rates went up. That defeats the point of buying insurance. Then the owner kept part of our security deposit and hired a law firm to collect the money. After a few phone calls, the firm stopped contacting us, but the owner then brought in a collection company instead. It was shocking and upsetting after more than 10 years as satisfied Timber Bay Lodge & Houseboats customers under the previous owners. Since the new owners took over, our experience has changed for the worse. What used to feel like a trustworthy, customer-friendly lodge now feels aggressive and unfair. Be careful under the new ownership. Get every possible charge in writing and understand the terms, because your checkout total may be much higher than you expect. Sadly, we can't recommend Timber Bay Lodge & Houseboats anymore.

We paid for full insurance coverage on the fishing boats because we wanted to avoid problems if accidental damage happened. We also rented a houseboat, and were clearly told the insurance covered any damage. But at the end of the trip, the company tried to charge us extra for alleged damage to a boat even though we'd already paid for full coverage. That makes the insurance feel misleading and unprofessional. If customers pay extra for coverage, it should cover them, not be used as a reason to bill them again later. A very disappointing experience. I'd strongly recommend reading all the terms carefully before renting from this company.
