Country Inn & Suites by Radisson, Emporia, VA

After a long drive, we found the room clean and nice, and the bed was comfortable. The bad part was a dog barking off and on through the night and into the morning, apparently in a nearby room. The woman working at breakfast was also very rude to my son and his girlfriend.

The pet fee was really reasonable compared with many hotel brands, and the staff were exceptionally accommodating and polite. The hotel and individual rooms were clean and well maintained. I'm not much of a breakfast person, but I like to look around, and the choices were more than adequate. My only real suggestion is an interior refresh. Everything is very clean, but an update could move my rating from 3 to 4.

The included breakfast was decent, with a waffle maker, regular and sugar-free syrup, butter, Nutella, lots of yogurt, fruit, hard-boiled and scrambled eggs, sausage, breakfast potatoes, cereal, and bread. Coffee and tea, plus hot water, were available in the lobby all day and night. We arrived after midnight and the man at the front desk was welcoming, friendly, and upbeat for that hour. The clean, updated first-floor room was spacious enough for us, and comfortable for sleeping and showering. We were there less than 12 hours, but got a restful night and enough fuel for the next day of driving. We were heading down to Myrtle Beach and would stay here again on trips between South Carolina and NJ. It's right off 95, and there are plenty of nearby places for a meal or supplies: Cracker Barrel within easy walking distance, Starbucks, McDonald's, Chick Fil A, Pizza Hut, Walmart, Food Lion, CVS, gas stations, and other stores and restaurants.

Convenient for an overnight stop, and Cracker Barrel is very close. Breakfast was okay, but there was no A/C in the breakfast room, so grabbing food to go is probably best. Check-out was easy.
