Motel 6 Emporia

The pictures and lower price are what led us to choose the Emporia Inn, but I wouldn't recommend it. The room shown online must have been cleaned much more thoroughly than ours. It looked like it hadn't been swept in a long time, and there was something in the shower and on the folded towels. The sink was chipped and had no stopper, and the toilet didn't look like it had been cleaned recently. The sheets were very thin, and the walls let us hear everything from the next room and hall. We stayed one night, and the smoke alarm was beeping while we got ready in the morning. Check-in was poor too, with no greeting, while the woman at the desk complained throughout the process.

The man at the front counter was nice, but the room felt gross. There were black hairs on the towels, and it didn't seem like the floor had been swept or mopped in ages. I know it was a $40 room, but it was still disgusting. I'm aware I should've known better, and this is the last time I'll go cheap on a hotel.

It was very hot when we got in, and the AC took several hours to really start cooling the room. Once it did, we were quite comfortable. The room itself was clean and spacious. Best Motel 6 I've stayed at, by far.

We got in around midnight. The room cost little, was clean and bug-free, and turned out bigger and nicer than I'd expected for the price. The person at the front desk was nice, and checkout was just as easy and pleasant. I'd definitely stay here again if I drive through.
