Red Roof Inn Enfield

The place has improved a lot over the last three years. We’ve stayed here for years when attending Dog Shows in West Springfield, Massachusetts, and it’s had its ups and downs. These days the rooms are redone, the grounds are clean, and the staff are attentive. Being dog friendly matters a lot to us, and we feel safe here. It’s easy to get on and off I-91, with plenty of good dining and shopping nearby. Great job, folks!

I was worried about leaving my room all weekend because people I took to be drug addicts were hanging around. The room itself was extremely dirty, and from my experience working in the industry, it looked like only the bare minimum had been done. The tub and toilet were visibly soiled, so I bought cleaning supplies and cleaned the whole room, including the bathroom. The smell was so bad I had to light candles. My deposit also wasn’t refunded. I called the same day I checked out and was told to contact my bank, but got no further information. This place has potential, but a lot needs fixing before guests can feel comfortable.

Both times I’ve stayed here, while dealing with less-than-ideal personal circumstances, I’ve had no problems. Staff have usually been helpful, including sorting out a booking mix-up with other staff members. I’ve felt safe leaving my car, and the room has always been clean and mostly quiet, with no visible stains or bugs. The keys worked, too. The thermostat can be tricky, and I wish there were tissues in the room and the lobby. For a quick night’s sleep, it’s generally fine.

The smell hit me as soon as I walked in, and nothing in the room felt sanitary or cared for. There were large stains and hair under the sheets, the chair had visible stains, and the bathtub was rusty and seemed poorly maintained. There wasn’t even a little dish for the soap. I checked in and checked right back out 10 minutes later, then asked the front desk for a refund. He said I’d been there “too long” to get one, but offered another room. When I asked for a manager, I was told to call tomorrow because he wasn’t in. Absolutely disgusting!!!
