Homewood Suites Denver - Littleton

The outdoor BBQ area was marvelous, and my family thoroughly enjoyed it for my granddaughter’s second year post-transplant anniversary. She’s 7, and I’m grateful for that. I chose this place mainly because they allowed my dogs, and the location was pretty, clean, and full of fresh mountain air. The outside looked newer, but the rooms were very dated, though spacious. The table was nearly falling apart, the chairs didn’t match, the TVs were small 35-inch ones, and the living area could have used a coffee table. The newer fridge cooled well. But the rooms and hallways stayed at a toasty 76 even with the AC on full blast, so I barely rested or slept. I would’ve stayed longer if it hadn’t been so hot.

We had a comfortable overnight visit, and the location was nice. The staff were helpful, the rooms comfortable, and breakfast was good for a chain hotel. There was some wear and tear in our room, including worn carpet and furniture, and one bed frame sagged. That may be typical for an extended-stay hotel, but it’s worth mentioning.

The king suite was quite large and clean, and mostly up to date. Having the toilet and bath in a separate room from the vanity is a real plus. The bed was okay. The HVAC unit was noisy, so I switched it off overnight; that worked fine since it was a cold night.

With a power outage affecting thousands, hotels were full, including this one. I came down for breakfast at 9:40, though it was supposed to close at 10. Most food had already been taken away, what remained was empty, and the waffle makers were full of burnt leftover waffles that couldn’t be used. I asked at the desk, and she matter-of-factly said, “It’s only til 10 on weekends, there’s nothing I can do.” I asked if it wasn’t Saturday, and she replied, “Oh, I don’t know why she did that.” Horrible. Hopefully they stay open until 10 tomorrow. Lots of hotels near here are much better. There was just one cup of each fruit and vegetable left out, and many people were still trying to get breakfast in time.
