The view has real potential, and the employees were kind and tried hard to help us. Breakfast was different from what you see at many hotels, too. But we had to switch rooms three times: the first was dirty, the second had a TV and latch they couldn't repair, and the third was also dirty, though not as badly. I was anxious about the cleanliness and safety throughout the stay. The tub looked uncleaned, there was fuzz and dirt on the vents and air conditioner, and we kept our shoes on because the floors didn't feel clean. I wouldn't let either of my dogs touch the floor. The beds looked clean to the naked eye, but I didn't want to know what they'd look like under a blue light. We left the next morning and won't return until the place has been renovated. There's more I could list. The view was lovely, but the condition of the hotel reminded me of an episode of Hotel Hell.

I sometimes book here because it's near my job, and the staff are always pleasant and kind. During a snowstorm, the hotel had a shovel guests could use for their cars. One evening a friend and I got back late after work. While she went upstairs to get her things, I started clearing her car. The man at the desk came outside ready to help, took the shovel from me, and cleared part of it himself. He really didn't have to, and it was incredibly kind. It's been a good experience, and I'd recommend the hotel to friends who need a room.

Breakfast was a hassle: the pancake maker was broken, and getting even half a cup of yogurt from the machine took ages. The floor felt stiff and could've been cleaner, and the room itself wasn't especially nice. The bed was just okay. The worst part was the heat. The room was at least 80°F, and after we set the air conditioner and left for a surprise birthday party, we came back four hours later to find the room still sweltering and the air off. I set it to 60, its lowest setting. The front desk brought a fan, which helped, and offered to move us. But we'd already unpacked, and the suggestion that we leave our belongings in the original room while we moved didn't work for me. I wouldn't come back.

The employees are genuinely kind and helpful, which is why this review isn't one or two stars. The parking lot is a good size, easy to get in and out of, and there's a grocery store nearby. But I've stayed several times over the past six months, and each visit the building has seemed worse. The lobby gets cleaned, while the upper floors don't seem to get the same care. The carpets need replacing, and my room had dozens of stains and felt dirty underfoot. The AC was loud and nowhere near as cold as its setting suggested, and the strong lotion smell meant I had to bring Febreze. Breakfast was disappointing for a Best Western Plus: the yogurt machine stayed clogged the whole time, the pancake machine failed one morning, half the bagels were stale, and cream cheese packets sat unrefrigerated on the counter all morning. Harrisburg has worse hotels, but this place needs to take better care of its building.
