Baymont by Wyndham Erie

I left especially impressed by the people working here. Everyone I ran into was warm and welcoming, and they all seemed to enjoy their jobs. That says a lot about the management, and other motels and hotels could take a cue from them. Check-in was easy with a friendly, accommodating staff member, and breakfast the next morning was good. This was my best Wyndham stay, an excellent experience.

Breakfast changed a bit over my two days. The first morning there were home fries, link sausage, scrambled eggs, bagels, two waffle makers, and individual JIF peanut butter packs, plus jellies, jams, and honey. The next day had eggs, biscuits, and gravy. It was a pleasant spread, though Sheetz is right across the street. The location is handy, with convenient parking and a Sheetz and Tesla Supercharging station directly opposite. Staff were polite, capable, and professional throughout my stay. The welcome at reception was warm, and the front desk even called shortly after we got to the room to see if we needed anything. The room was comfortable, clean, and free of dust, and the hotel seemed well maintained. The bed was made neatly and the room appeared to get regular service. I noticed a few small marks on both sets of sheets, but under and behind the mattress was clean. The shower was clean and the water had no unpleasant smell. One lamp lacked a bulb, and the desk promptly contacted maintenance. They seem to use CFLs. There’s a computer and printer in the business center. The small gym has an elliptical, exercise ball, and combination strength machine, but the treadmill was out of order. Most surprisingly, the only water refill station I found was in the gym. The first-floor public restroom could use better upkeep, though it was usable, and the floors felt sticky. It’s a pleasant two-star hotel, and we’ll stay again.

The water wouldn’t drain properly and kept sitting there, which was the one drawback. Otherwise, we were comfortable: the room was clean and warm in the winter, breakfast was good, and the staff served us well.

I arrived at 4:30 a.m. and the gentleman who checked me in was helpful and pleasant. He even arranged a later checkout. The room was clean. I skipped breakfast this time, though I’ve had it before and it was always good. Thanks!
