Best Western Lindsay Inn & Suites

After a 3 1/2 hour drive, I found the first room dirty. The toilet hadn't been cleaned, there was a clock between the bed and nightstand, and the desk looked like someone had eaten dinner on it. I asked for another room, but that one smelled and had black mold in the shower and along the bottom of the tub. Two roaches were scurrying across the floor. I ended up finding a hotel in another nearby town. The front office staff apologized, though one person was wearing a T-shirt and athletic shorts, and none of them looked professionally dressed.

My kids didn't want to leave. The staff made all of us feel like family, and they were so kind to my children. Whenever we needed something, they were glad to help. When my son got chilly, they brought him a blanket and turned down the air. They also went to the back for the extra things we needed without hesitation. We loved this place.

The room and bathroom made a good first impression, and the beds were fairly comfortable, but breakfast changed that. It felt like the food wasn't ready yet, and other people seemed to think so too. There was no juice, eggs, bacon, toast, or muffins, just sausage, biscuits, and gravy. The coffee machine might not have worked. The pancake machine was out of order, though the waffle maker worked. The oatmeal warmer was empty, and the cereal containers were nearly empty. The toaster was there, at least. The A/C also wasn't working properly. And the shower handle seemed to be on the wrong side, so I worried I'd slip trying to get in without being hit by the water.

We had an enjoyable stay, with efficient service and good facilities, plus coffee, tea, fruit, and juice available around the clock. Our room was very clean and laid out nicely. The refrigerator was just the right size for dishes we brought for a family reunion potluck, somewhere between a mini-bar and a full-size fridge. The one thing we would have liked was more protein at breakfast.
