The Padre Motel

The owner was so kind and accommodating. When we asked, he brought us a hairdryer and extra sheets for the pull-out couch. We slept in one of the two bedrooms, each of which had a queen bed, and there was a pull-out couch too. The shower pressure was amazing, and there were lots of food options nearby. The motel has been here since the 40s, so it’s dated, but it’s clean and has everything you need. We’ll definitely stay again.

The rooms were very clean, the shower was hot, and each room had coffee and a mini fridge. Our room didn’t have a TV in the bedroom, though there was one in the small area between the two bedrooms. Parking gets tight when the hotel is full. There’s no breakfast included, but the guy at the front desk, who I think was the owner, was nice and recommended places to eat. Good value for the money.

I stayed during the Escalante plein air festival and had a very pleasant visit. The hotel is being updated, so it does feel dated as other reviewers have said, but everything was spotless. The mattress was amazing, and the bedding was crisp and clean. The location was great, right across from Nemo’s for burgers and just a minute or two from the rest of town. The owner was helpful, and I hope to return next year.

Right in the middle of the main drag, and the staff were great. We needed a room on a Saturday as we passed through Escalante near the end of a cross-country trip. The Padre had a good-priced option that worked out especially well: two queen beds in what turned out to be two separate rooms. Great experience, top marks.
