I drove seven hours from Minnesota to be with family after my grandfather passed away. The man at the front desk was quick, professional, and extremely friendly. My room was quiet, the bed and bathroom were clean, and there was coffee, a TV, and great parking. I enjoyed the stay and would likely return if I need to make a last-minute trip back.

A complete dive. We were given two different rooms, and both were unacceptable. In February 2026, during winter in the UP, the walks to the entrances hadn't been shoveled, except at the main entrance. One room had no heat, the beds were awful, and the rooms were dark. Each had several large power strips meant to run things like the coffee pot, microwave, and mini fridge, but most of them didn't work. You're better off in your car.

This place was dirty, smelled awful, and felt unsafe. There were stains on the ceiling, and the comforter looked like it hadn't been washed in two years. The electrical setup was a fire hazard, with cords hanging all over, and most outlets didn't work. Only two plugs worked, and not even every socket on those outlets. I was glad to be on the first floor because I figured I could get out through the window. After staying at several places with my friend, this was by far the worst. I paid for everything before leaving, made sure things were clean, left a tip for the cleaning guy, and behaved appropriately. I was gone for no more than 15 minutes when they charged my card $100. I called to complain, and he said he'd return it. It was refunded about an hour later, then his wife came in and charged my card another $100. Now I'm out the money. I don't trust the people at the desk with a credit card or personal information. It felt like they were treating my card as a free ATM.

The smell was horrible, and my shoes stuck to the bathroom floor. Even after showering, I couldn't get rid of the feeling that I was still filthy. There was no hot water in the sink, and when I told staff, they said to use the shower. Ceiling tiles were falling, and the gap under the door was big enough for me to put my hand through. Staff hollered to each other down the hall at all hours. Never again. Don't stay there unless it's your last resort.

It's basically somewhere to sleep, with nothing to do at the hotel and not much nearby for entertainment, restaurants, or bars. There's sort of truck parking, if that's useful to any truckers: maybe two spaces for semis with trailers along the service road out front.
