Travelodge by Wyndham Essington / Philadelphia Airport

The bathroom had a literal hole in the wall. The sink barely worked, and because the area under it leaked, I had to wrap a towel around it and leave a trash can below. The shower spray was poor too. Beds sat low and felt extremely flat, the pillows were like couch decorations, and the blankets were paper thin. The WiFi was very slow, the door barely locked, and the latch was the only thing that gave me any peace of mind. There was just one housekeeper cleaning rooms. It didn’t feel welcoming or comfortable at all. Maybe it’s somewhere to crash if you’re exhausted on a long drive, or, if you know what I mean, for a hot date. The place was falsely advertised, and when you pull up you might wonder if you’ve found the right hotel. I’d give it minus zero stars if I could. They charge for a stay at a place that shouldn’t even be open. It should be free and rented out to the homeless. By far the worst hotel I’ve ever been to in my entire life, and it doesn’t live up to the name.

I was skeptical after reading the reviews, but the room was clean, the remote was there, and there were no plumbing problems or bugs. Looks like they have an exterminator now. Honestly impressed, especially for the price.

I was exhausted and only wanted to shower and get some sleep, but the receptionist treated me like I’d done something wrong. I arrived with a reservation around 10:30 PM on March 27th. He was rude from the start, ignored my questions, and acted like answering was a burden. The key card he gave me showed an error, so I went back politely because I couldn’t open the door. He swore at me and got angry. Then he abruptly walked away without saying anything. Later he came back, still angry, saying he’d opened the door and cursing at me. I stayed polite and couldn’t understand why he was acting that way. He could simply have done his job, but it felt like he wanted a fight. I was insulted and cursed at for no reason, even though I hadn’t been rude to him. The hotel’s security cameras recorded it, so they can check. I felt extremely humiliated. I thought the whole thing was absurd, and hope nobody else has to go through it. Don’t stay here.

The service is awful. Staff won’t even meet your eyes, and every question makes you feel like they’re doing you some huge favor by answering. It’s adorable and horrible. The non-smoking area has no ashtray, but smells strongly like a smoking room.
