LaPlaya Beach & Golf Resort - A Noble House Resort

I paid $3,000 for four nights and left disappointed. LaPlaya charges more than luxury-resort prices, but the experience didn't come close to matching them. The building is old and showing its wear, without the polished, premium feel I'd expect at this price. There were very few inclusions. Breakfast wasn't part of the rate, not even a continental option, and anything beyond the room meant paying more. For the nightly cost, that felt almost insulting, especially when other resorts in this price range include more. I came hoping for a special trip and left feeling taken advantage of. The value just isn't there, and Naples has much better options that feel luxurious and treat you like a guest. Save your money and look elsewhere.

Service was the highlight, from the beach and poolside to housekeeping. The young team was cheerful and attentive when we needed something without hovering. The men looking after the beach, chairs, and umbrellas kept everything in great order. Housekeeping deserves special thanks, especially Kim Hawxhurst. I left some serums and other things in the nightstand, and they were bagged and set aside before I even realized they were missing. Kim kept me updated while tracking them down and shipping them back. Having my favorite sleep mask returned was a lovely extra to an already wonderful stay. The resort was beautiful, the sunset views were amazing, and the rooms were well maintained with absolutely NO ODOR, which is rare right on the water.

My wife and I stayed at LaPlaya Beach & Gold Resort May 13-18th, and the location made for a memorable vacation. We loved room 1012's ocean view, the pools, the beautiful, well-kept beach, the amenities, and especially the breathtaking sunsets. The staff were amazing, including the valet team, who treated us like royalty. We plan to return for our anniversary in August. A few things made parts of the stay less pleasant. The tub and shower step is so high that we both had to hold the handle to get in, and my wife banged her knee twice. Anyone with mobility or leg issues may not be able to use the tub in room 1012. The bathroom vanity lighting was too dim for shaving my head and face, so I had to use a mirror in the bedroom. We loved leaving the patio doors open at night to hear the waves. After a few nights, though, cigarette smoke from somewhere next door, above, or below drifted into the room so strongly that I had to close the doors. It took hours to clear. I told the front desk the next morning, but it happened again the following night. Even with those issues, we had an amazing stay at LaPlaya and one of the best vacation locations we've experienced.

The room was pretty average, nothing special, but the view was amazing and the property is in a great spot. I loved the pools and hot tub. I did consider taking off a star because staff entered our room to leave a complimentary bottle of champagne despite the Do Not Disturb sign on the door. Thankfully we weren't there.
