My wife and I first got together during a night at Fawn valley inn. We came back 15 years later to celebrate her birthday. It’s a quiet, quaint place, with private hot tub suites, easy access to Rocky mountain national Park, and downtown Estes nearby.
We had a clean, updated room with one bedroom, two baths, a great kitchen, and a balcony hot tub. We’d definitely come back. The screen door for the sliding doors needs repair, and the mattresses on the hide-a-beds could be better. Our granddaughters found those beds uncomfortable.
We had everything we needed to make a holiday meal in the kitchen, and the living room had games, puzzles, and books for all ages. It was a charming one-bedroom condo in a cabin style, with adorable furnishings and a patio right beside the river.
This was our second stay in less than a year, but we won’t be returning. Last time my dad and his stepdaughter booked two condos for several nights and we had a good experience. This time I booked a room for us, and the customer service left me disappointed. On Saturday night, after my son had gone to bed, I ran the shower for several minutes and the water stayed ice cold. The bathroom and kitchen faucets were cold too when I checked. My dad had the same problem taking a shower the next morning, just before checkout. I contacted the front desk the day after checkout to explain and ask for a partial refund. They said there would be no refund because we hadn’t called the “emergency line.” I didn’t know cold water counted as an emergency, and with my young child asleep, I didn’t want anyone coming in late at night. By morning, we were minutes from leaving, so calling then felt pointless. I’m sad to say we won’t be back. We had a good stay here less than a year ago, but I’m disappointed by how they handled this and how little they seemed to value us as customers.
The view out back was beautiful, and we saw lots of deer and elk. The pool was nice too. But when people downstairs grilled, smoke filled our unit, which seems poorly thought out. The place felt average at best, with outdated units and old furnishings that need upgrading. There was no closet space to hang clothes and no dressers. The metal patio door was ancient and wouldn’t even lock. There’s no A/C, and it’s hot during the day, so guests shouldn’t be expected to go without it just because nights cool off. Staff were just okay.
