Mountain Shadows Resort

The hosts were helpful and accommodating, and we really liked that it was pet friendly. The place was very clean, with a hot tub as a nice extra. It’s close to both Rocky Mountain National Park and Estes Park. We’d definitely stay again.

We loved relaxing on the deck and taking in the view. The bed was very comfortable, the shower worked well, and the place felt spacious. It was clean and stocked with extra toiletries and kitchen supplies. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. This was one of the best places we’ve ever stayed, and we’ll definitely come back.

On our most recent visit, we had no towels or soap. The staff fixed that promptly once we raised it, but really, those should have been there. Breakfast is gone too, both in the main house and the room; it seems easier to cut it entirely than keep even a little of that cozy resort feel. The place has changed hands several times since our first visit, when it was a bed and breakfast. The grounds are maintained, and the paths were clear, though poorly lit. A path light outside our cabin had come off its base and was lying in the snow. Nobody seemed to notice or care, so I picked it up and put it back. It worked fine. Why walk past it instead of taking some pride in the place and screwing the lid back on? Finally, the kitchenette sink was clogged with coffee grounds. Staff knew about it but weren’t going to do anything until we asked.

A great spot for a quick escape. The cabin was clean, and having a hot tub right in the room was a lovely bonus. We also appreciated the private, dog-friendly feel, the cool atmosphere, and the great service.
