Murphy's Resort

The view was stunning, and we’re grateful for how warmly we were welcomed. The owners were incredibly kind, especially toward the Hope Kids participants, which touched us. Our room was clean, cozy, and comfortable, with amenities that made it feel like home. The staff were friendly and attentive, always willing to help. We had a wonderful stay and highly recommend the hotel.

The place was very clean, and we found it a good value. I liked the indoor hot tub and chatting with other travelers. Borrowing DVDs and getting popcorn was a nice extra, and breakfast was basic, but the coffee was great. Most of the staff were super friendly. The person at check-in seemed robotic, though I think she may have been new. There are lots of unusual rules in the owners’ room rental agreement. I didn’t run into any problems, but I’d be curious how those rules would hold up if challenged in court. I’d definitely come back.

The walls are thin, and there was quite a bit of activity around 6-7 a.m. as park visitors got an early start to beat crowds and parking. That seems tied to the location, but light sleepers might want earplugs or another place to stay. The hotel is older, though clearly well cared for. Our beds were comfortable and new, and the furnishings and bathroom fixtures were clean and functional, if a bit dated. We also had a mini fridge and safe. Staff were friendly, helpful, and had good suggestions for food, hikes, and local activities. The simple breakfast was just right before heading outdoors: good coffee, hard-boiled eggs, bagels, muffins, yogurt, instant oatmeal, fresh fruit, and granola bars, all kept well stocked. We liked the large DVD and board game library on the honor system, plus bottled water for just $1. You can tell the owners and staff care about the property and their guests. It’s an affordable, well-run base for Rocky Mountain National Park or Estes Park. We’d gladly stay again and recommend it to visitors.

We came for a few days to visit and celebrate our babies’ first birthday, and had such a nice time. Even with the lodge fully booked, our room was quiet and didn’t feel like a motel. It was very clean and had everything we needed. Everyone we met seemed genuinely happy to work there, from the two men at check-in to the groundsmen and cleaning staff. Our golden retriever was welcome too, and got treats at the front desk. We borrowed “The Shining” DVD and enjoyed the popcorn from the lobby. Thanks so much!
