Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites Eugene Downtown-University by IHG

My wife called the service manager after my window was smashed, and the conversation turned hostile right away. The manager knew who we were, refused any discount, and said staff had misinformed us when they said they’d do something for us. She didn’t acknowledge what happened or apologize. Very unprofessional. The building has poor security. My window was broken in what seemed like a random act of vandalism. Nothing was taken, and I don’t know the reason or intent. The front desk clerk said this had happened several times, but the owners still hadn’t added outside cameras or other security measures. If you stay here, be aware it could happen to you. Lock your vehicle and leave no valuables inside. There are signs saying they aren’t responsible for parking-lot incidents, but since this is a known problem, I wish they’d do more. I got no discount or other compensation, and the manager never called. It felt like they considered it not their problem. I filed a report with Eugene police, then found a nice paint and body shop that put collision wrap on the vehicle so we could finish our trip.

We came for a soccer weekend and found the hotel clean, with friendly, welcoming employees. Parking was easy in the garage. Breakfast was hot and had a great variety both mornings. Dutch Bros is next door, and Starbucks is just a block away.

We were comfortable and had good accommodations, and customer service was good during our stay. The location works well for events at UO. There are quite a few good places to eat within a 30-minute walk, and a nice trail along the Willamette River is nearby.

Great spot and the staff were really pleasant, but the room put me off. The photos of the tub, floor, and fridge say plenty. There wasn't even a bathmat. This isn't what I expect from this brand, so I'll return to my usual hotel down the street, even though it costs more.
