Hotel O Eureka Springs - Christ of Ozark Area

The bathtub was dirty, and the coffee maker looked as though it hadn’t been cleaned since the place opened. There was even an envelope by the TV asking guests to tip housekeeping. I couldn’t justify tipping when basic cleaning seemed to have been skipped, and the door handles made me want to use a sock to touch them. The rest of the place felt cheap and unfinished. Around 9 p.m. there was barely any water pressure. The walls reminded me of an old 1980s trailer, with mismatched baseboards and plastic strips holding them down to the floor. A couch was left in the walkway to the rooms, and the chairs outside the rooms looked ready for the trash. It felt like a flop house, and I wouldn’t stay here again.

A good value, and the room was clean with good service. There was quite a bit of traffic noise. I was there during the week, so I can’t comment on breakfast. It’s a short drive to downtown Eureka and not far from where the Passion play is performed. The trolley stops right outside for pickup and drop-off.

The room we were given was in disgusting shape: handprints on the mirrors, stains on the floor and sheets, hair in the shower and sink, a clogged shower drain, a loose shower knob, a half-used toilet paper roll, and water damage on the walls. I pointed it all out to the young man at the desk, and all he said was, “Sorry about your stay.” The way the situation was handled felt unprofessional. Our booked room had apparently been given to someone else by accident, so we were moved into an unused room. That seemed odd when the website showed the hotel as completely sold out. The rate we’d booked was higher than the price posted on the wall in our assigned room, but they didn’t refund the difference. The young man blamed Expedia. I thought using a travel site was supposed to help get a cheaper rate. I asked him whether he knew the room’s condition when he gave it to us, and he said yes. This was one of the worst stays I’ve had, and definitely memorable for all the wrong reasons. Do better.

The staff were really nice and helpful, and the place was very clean. We liked the location, close to restaurants and shops. Our room did smell musty, although we noticed that same smell around town, even outside. I’d stay here again and recommend it.
