Quality Inn Evanston near Wyoming Downs

They charged my card twice after I booked through a third-party site. At check-in, they asked for a card for incidentals and charged that one too before I had checked out. After reading other comments, it seems this may happen often here. When I raised the issue, they offered only an automated message about trying to do better, with no real effort to fix it. I’ll be reporting this to the BBB.

The bathroom was filthy, with an unclean toilet, hair across the floor, and litter. We only stayed because it was so late when we arrived. At checkout I told the desk clerk, and he said he’d ask housekeeping to deep-clean the room. There was no apology or expression of concern. That service was awful. Spend a little more and stay somewhere better.

For a budget hotel, this was better than most of the inexpensive places I’ve tried. The hot breakfast options were a nice touch, and I liked that they welcome pets.

The room was clean and the bed was comfortable, and the air conditioning worked. I also asked for a non-smoking, pet-free room and didn’t notice cigarette or pet odors. The breakfast was basic but fine. We stayed in the extra building they open during busy season. The desk called it renovated, though it still looked quite dated. Our only room issues were a slow bathroom sink and a toilet that seemed close to overflowing when flushed. Holding the handle down made it flush properly. Check-in took a while because we arrived close to 11 p.m. and one man was running things, but he was friendly, kind, and informative. It was a good place for a night off the interstate.
