DoubleTree by Hilton Evansville

We travel a lot and usually stick to Hilton hotels, so we’ve stayed at plenty of properties over the years. Nick at the DoubleTree in Evansville, IN was one of the best front desk agents we’ve had. He was friendly, really helpful, and made us feel welcome. The property is big and nice, and our room was comfortable too.

The location is a real plus, and the staff are friendly and welcoming. Our suite had plenty of space, and the complimentary morning breakfast was good. The conference rooms are great, and the hotel was busier than I expected. The lobby is currently being renovated. The suite has a mini fridge but no microwave, though there’s a shared one in the lobby. The shower door in the bathroom could be cleaner. The last couple of days of our five-day stay, our room smelled of marijuana. We reported it to the front desk, but nothing was done. The room was also very dirty and dusty, and the front desk staff were unresponsive, despite our having booked a suite.

We come here every year around the same time to visit my grandson, and it’s a nice place to spend time. I like having a drink at the bar at night and watching football. The restaurant is under construction, but they’re still accommodating guests with a small menu. Having Starbucks right downstairs is a big plus.

We arrived at 4:30 p.m. on 12/06/2025. The front desk attendant, a woman named Adrian, spent about five minutes chatting with a friend three feet from the desk, showing him pictures on her phone and catching up before coming back. My husband explained that we had reserved a room with a wheelchair-accessible shower. At 4:36, Adrian said no room was ready, so we went away and gave them an hour. When we returned, she put us in room 416, which had a bathtub. I went back down and explained that we needed an accessible shower, and she moved us to room 243. The bathroom floor there was so sticky our shoes left marks. I had to wet a towel and clean it. My guess is someone sprayed cleaner and didn't mop it up properly. In the morning, I found the shower hose completely disconnected from the water source, and my husband had to screw it back together for me. We won’t stay here again, which is a shame because the location is perfect and the beds are very comfortable.
