Econo Lodge Evansville

The rooms are spacious, and I liked their layout, but they could use some work. Our bathroom had no towels, and the tub and floor were dirty. There was a little bottle of lotion on the sink and used soap in the shower. The pool was messed up and the stairs needed repairs. I also killed a roach in the bathroom. The bed was hard as a rock, though I slept pretty well.

I stayed here while my girlfriend was moving into her dorm. The room was much more spacious than the place looked from the outside, and the air conditioning worked great on a hot summer day. The TV had good channels, including Showtime. The pool was in great shape, and when it got dark, the staff gladly turned on the pool lights for us. The included breakfast was very good too. The carpet could use cleaning, though most hotels have that issue, and the shower pressure wasn't great. The water stayed hot all day. That’s just my opinion from one room and one stay.

Room service wasn't daily. I asked for it repeatedly during the month I stayed, but housekeeping never once came into my room. The room itself wasn't clean: the tub was dirty, there were holes along the baseboards, and I found mice. The bed had no pillows, and there were no towels either. It took almost 20 hours to get them. A true Evansville experience.

The low price, friendly employees, in-room fridge and microwave, pet-friendly policy, lack of bed bug signs, and make-your-own waffles were the good parts. Everything else was a problem. The room reeked of cigarette smoke, the sink faucet was broken, and the shower had mildew around it. The sheets were stained, though they looked washed. The beds and pillows were hard, and big air gaps around the door left the poorly insulated room so cold at night that I used my winter coat as a blanket. Nobody cleaned the room during our two-night stay, and previous guests’ things were still there, including shoes, jewelry, and papers. The walls were thin, so we heard a barking dog, a crying baby, and the neighbor's TV all night. Internet worked at first, then quit on the second day. Breakfast was mediocre apart from the waffles: stale bread, a broken toaster, and no tea or hot water. This wasn't my worst motel stay, but if you have another option, take it.
