Alpen Way Chalet Mountain Lodge

The Daisy Suite was spacious and cozy, even with its lower-level setting and low ceiling. We liked the privacy of the back entrance, which leads past flowers and a pleasant water feature, with wildlife often around. The rooms are comfortable and warmly decorated, and the location is handy for Evergreen activities, shops, restaurants, and sightseeing nearby. We’d choose that same room again.

I want to respond to the owner's reply here and on Expedia, because I believe it is false and misleading. Other reviews seem to share a concern about rude, unprofessional behavior. I thought it wouldn't happen to us, but I was wrong. Even the reply feels condescending. I wasn't walking the dog or with my partner when I was looking for the entrance and admiring the architecture. There were no signs about restrictions, and none were listed on the website or in email. The owner came out yelling in anger, agitated, without explaining things civilly. There was no welcome. I stayed calm, apologized, and tried to de-escalate, but she kept scolding me. I never asked for a refund in the office; I planned to stay, and signed the paper reluctantly after her behavior. My comment about wishing I had booked somewhere else was in response to her rudeness. I tried to keep quiet and only answer when asked to avoid a confrontation, but she still sounded angry at the cabin in front of my partner. We decided not to stay with hosts who treated us that way. I do not recommend staying here. The property itself is nice, but the hospitality felt extremely disappointing and unprofessional. The inn is advertised as pet friendly, but that wasn't our experience. On arrival, the owner, Lisa, confronted us harshly about our dog, then went through a long list of restrictions about pets and amenities in a disrespectful, condescending tone. There was no greeting or attempt to make us comfortable. The scolding continued as she walked us to the office and then the cabin. The interaction felt hostile and unnecessarily aggressive. She seemed to be hyperventilating and very stressed the whole time. After her direct aggression, I said I regretted not booking elsewhere, and she implied we probably couldn't afford another place. That was inappropriate and unprofessional. We lasted less than ten minutes in the cabin before leaving to book somewhere else, even at a higher cost. We couldn't tolerate that treatment. A pretty property can't make up for treating guests so poorly.

The Enchanted room had a very nice deck and fire pit. It was clean and really comfortable, and the grounds were quiet and relaxing. Alpen Way Chalet Mtn Lodge is conveniently close to downtown and the lodge. We had a very nice stay.

The chickens were a fun little part of the visit, and the location worked really well for exploring Evergreen, with everything we wanted to see a short drive or walk away. Our cabin at Alpen Way Chalet Mountain Lodge was spotless, cozy, and well kept. We especially enjoyed the hot tub at the end of the day, with the temperature just right. We appreciated the discounted rate and that they waived the usual two-night minimum for a holiday weekend. That flexibility made the trip possible for us. We’d be glad to stay again and recommend it to others visiting the area.
