Country Club Motor Lodge

My husband, father-in-law, and I stayed at the Country Club Motor Lodge from 10/8/2013 to 10/11/2013. The road signs advertise $39, but we were charged $50 per room per night. The place also badly needs repairs, and it seems the owners aren’t putting money into it. Our bathroom tiles were broken into pieces, the floor felt weak, and there weren’t enough towels. Most troubling, someone went through our belongings during the stay and took a few of my hydrocodone pain pills from deep inside my bag. When we raised it with the manager, he assured us his staff wouldn’t do that. That would mean someone else got into the room while it was being cleaned, which would also mean it was left open and unattended for a while.

We needed somewhere to stay for five days after a family emergency. It’s cheap, and you get what you pay for. For the last two or three days, the room next door was a party room, and we could clearly hear what was going on all night. We stayed over Easter, too, and got kicked out of our room so the owner’s family could use it. Apparently it was one of the “nicer” rooms, near the office and farther from the drug activity. On the fourth morning, someone claimed they’d paid for my room. I didn’t know the couple and hadn’t heard of this, but they accused me of possibly scamming the hotel. Thankfully, the office cameras let me show the exact time I’d paid. Still, I spent an hour arguing over something I knew nothing about. I was displeased, left the next day, and haven’t returned. The rooms badly need updates, and the drug traffic needs to stop. Locals need hotels in emergencies, but I understand why hotels refuse local residents if people use them to deal drugs.

It’s not the nicest hotel, but I think it deserves four stars for the price and the experience. It’s $45 a night, or $40 if you’re staying a long time. At first glance it doesn’t look like much, but they make the bed and take out the trash every day, and the service was better than at most hotels. The water gets hot. To get all the TV channels, you have to enter the channel numbers manually.

We came for one night hoping for some quiet, and the woman at the front desk was really rude. She wouldn’t give us a second towel and said our family could only stay 15-20 minutes or we’d have to leave, even though we told her at check-in they were coming by to check on me and drop things off. She even called me to the office about it. On top of the poor service, they have bedbugs and didn’t say anything. I hope this place gets shut down.
