Clarion Inn & Suites DFW North

The room was available and seemed clean, so I can't really fault that part. But the place felt dark and damp, and the strong Fabuloso smell was awful for me. When my flight was cancelled, I couldn't find the airport shuttle and ended up paying far too much for a taxi. I wouldn't pay $110 to stay here otherwise.

We liked how clean everything was, and the lobby screen showing the day's arrivals, departures, and delays was handy. The room itself was nice but quite small. We stayed two days and housekeeping never came by, which was the one thing that bothered me. Otherwise, it was a good experience, especially being so close to the airport.

The airport shuttle worked really well, and we were glad to have the cafe available. Its gluten-free choices were limited, but we managed. The heat pump in our room needs attention: it seemed to blow cold air around 40% of the time, instead of providing heat nearly all the time as we expected. I assume it was defrosting the outdoor coils, even though it wasn't very cold outside.

Clarion Inn & Suites is a reasonably priced place near DFW Airport, and our room was clean with no mold. The parking lot was bright, the hallways smelled pleasant, and I noticed a camera outside, though I couldn't tell whether it worked. The room initially smelled of cigarettes, but air freshener helped. The noisy HVAC, old peeling lights and switches, and lower shower and sink pressure at night made things less comfortable. There was also an unpleasant smell in the emergency stairwell, and some shower caulking was uneven. A few small repairs, especially to the fixtures and water pressure, would help. I'd put it around 3.5 to 4 stars.
