Econo Lodge Fallon Naval Air Station Area

In 12 years of working on the road, this is the cleanest Econolodge I've stayed in. I mostly stay at Choice properties, and this one is great value for how clean it is. Check-in was hospitable, too.

The bed and bathroom were good, and the room was great, but the walkway outside had grimy bits of garbage by the door. The floor inside the room wasn't very clean.

The front desk woman was really nice and accommodating, and the sheets, bedding, and room were clean. I was initially a little wary since this was the only available hotel that allowed pets, but it turned out to be a clean place to rest your head. I think it has a new owner, and I saw them putting together new beds as they fix up the rooms. Don't expect a Holiday Inn. The bar next door looked crusty from outside, but the people inside were friendly and it felt like a local place. They had great hot wings and pizza.

We paid less than most other places, about $130 total for a double queen. That left room for two full-size mountain bikes, two dogs, and two people. We got a ground-floor room, so getting in was easy. The hotel is dog friendly at $15 per dog per night. It's old but somewhat updated, everything in the clean room worked, and the front desk clerk was delightful and efficient. The beds were okay rather than fantastic, but we both slept well. There isn't a dedicated dog-walking area, so after dark we took the dogs down a side street and around some empty lots. It was fine and didn't feel uneasy. Parking was a little unusual. We arrived around 9 pm, and with the lot only about half full, we parked across a few spots near the end to feel safer since we had valuables in our truck and in the car we were towing. There's also a huge lot behind the hotel for larger vehicles and trailers. One note, Liberty Pond & Dog Park in Fallon is great, just a couple of miles away.
