Ivy City Hotel

There was plenty of parking on site, and the bus stop was around the corner, about a 20-minute ride to Washington town centre. But we didn't feel safe walking there, with so many homeless people, sex workers, and drug users around. As we left with our suitcases, two people were sitting on the hotel stairs using drugs. I won't recommend this place to anyone. The room had been updated and was okay, but it wasn't clean. The fridge was really noisy, the bed made me itchy, and the main road was loud even with blackout blinds. Be sure to read the reviews before booking. My other review was removed.

The room was filthy, with loose hair all over the bed and in the bathroom. On top of that, someone smashed another guest's car window. They also told me only after I arrived that I had to pay a deposit. My job had paid for the room, so I had to get them to send the deposit too. Easily the worst place I've stayed. I won't be back.

I wanted to leave as soon as I saw the room. The photos on the app were misleading, and I hadn't read the Google reviews beforehand. This is an old motel, not a hotel, with disgusting rooms and poor ventilation that made everything feel sticky. The furniture hadn't been cleaned and the tub was gross. I couldn't sleep all night because I was so disgusted. Don't book, and don't trust the other positive reviews!

The only upside was free parking. The room door opened straight onto the lot, so each night we heard people outside talking, laughing, and smoking until around 3 a.m. Housekeeping was two doors away one morning, but never came into our room; our trash stayed full and the dirty towels we left out were untouched. This is basically a dressed-up motel in a sketchy area, so research before booking. The room smelled of smoke, there were loose hairs in the sheets and a poop mark on the toilet seat. The towels didn't look clean enough to use. We left right away for Target down the street to buy cleaning supplies, disinfectant, hand soap, a sheet for the nasty bedding, pillows, and our own towels. The room photos are deceiving, and the rooms were worse than the area.
