Holiday Inn Express Fallon by IHG

The rooms were clean and nice, and the pool and hot tub were nice too. Front desk staff and housekeepers were all friendly, pleasant, and helpful. The only downside was the one slow elevator. I'd definitely stay again if I'm in the area.

The breakfast was extremely good, and the rooms are updated, with premium linens, double vanities, and amazing beds. It was fairly quiet and a good value. The indoor pool and spa are right beside the front lobby, behind a glass divider, so relaxing there felt awkward with guests checking in and looking in. At checkout I asked the desk woman about Hilton Rewards. She said, "I don't know," and when I asked if I could join online, she said, "I think so." That was odd, since there was a Hilton Rewards ad on a whiteboard by the desk telling guests to ask any staff member. I expected better from a well-known brand. I'll come back, but I won't use the hot tub. The good parts outweigh the bad.

The room was comfortable and clean, the AC worked well, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. After the first night, though, there was no cold water in the room, which made showering and brushing my teeth a strange experience. There were plumbers doing work, and they may have shut off the water. I told the front desk so they could fix it before it affected the next guest.

Be careful with your billing information here. I suspect the front desk staff may have tried to scam me or use my card fraudulently. I checked in on December 30 for one night, and everything seemed normal. The next morning, there was a note on my door saying there was a billing issue, even though the authorization was showing in my bank account. The woman at the desk didn't know what was happening and called another staff member. That person said their computer had glitched and hadn't saved my card, even though the young woman who checked me in the night before had asked if I was paying with the same card I used to book through the IHG APP. The agent asked to run the card again just to keep it on file, promising there'd be no second charge. But I saw the pin pad attempt another charge, and a double charge appeared. The second transaction didn't go through, apparently because my bank has a security feature. The agent apologized, said she'd try something else, and had me run the card to save the information. She thanked me and apologized for their error. Then on January 1, after I'd checked out, they tried to charge my card five different times. My bank declined them all for security reasons, and each attempt was for a different amount than I'd originally booked. Seriously consider staying somewhere else, or take precautions with your billing information.
