The rooms and pool are very good for the price, and in the Shattuck area there's not much else around. The doors slam shut. Staff didn't feel very welcoming, and because they wore regular clothes and weren't identified, I thought they were guests. The cleaning staff, though, were warm and genuinely helpful.

Breakfast was the biggest letdown: by 8 a.m. most of it was gone. There was no coffee, hot food, milk for the cereal, or silverware, and the young man at the front desk just shrugged and didn't seem concerned. Several guests were disappointed. Our room was okay but dated, with a huge carpet stain and a kitchenette that had no utensils. Cleanliness was about three out of five.

The front desk gave us a great restaurant recommendation. We were glad to find a two-room suite at a reasonable price. Breakfast was a bit disappointing, with no cereal or milk, but the coffee was surprisingly good.

The beds were rock hard, and the pool felt pretty cold. When I asked about an extra bed for our child, I thought that meant they'd have a cot for him, since we were there for his eighth birthday. We found out on arrival that they only had pack 'n plays.

The kids loved the splash pad by the pool, and the outdoor playground gave them somewhere to burn off energy. The rooms were clean and well maintained, breakfast was better than at most hotels, and the staff were friendly and helpful. We had an excellent stay.
