Motel 6 Farmington Hills, MI - Northwest - Farmington Hills

The room itself was clean, and it smelled faintly of cleaner, as if they’d recently mopped. We didn’t see roaches in the room, but my fiancée and I spotted one under the microwave in the vending machine room. That was enough for us to check out days earlier than planned. The bed was supposed to be a queen, and we were charged for that, but it was actually full size. The in-room microwave didn’t work. When I told the clerk, I was told to speak with management in the morning and could use the vending room microwave in the meantime. Several other people were heating food there, so it seems to happen often. Also, the door only locked if we closed it in a peculiar position. We won’t be coming back, and this place needs to be shut down.

There were roaches in the bathroom and even in the fridge, and plumbing problems made the stay worse. My husband, our two-year-old, and I had a terrible time at this Motel 6. Management said they’d offered a new room and come inspect the issue, but neither of those things happened. I was very disappointed with the conditions and how dishonestly the situation was handled. I don’t recommend staying here.

On the way home, my daughter had three bites in a row that looked like bedbug bites. She hadn’t gone into the original rooms. Afterward, I carefully cleaned my car and brought everything into the house one item at a time through the laundry room. I called the manager to explain that the problem seemed to have affected more than our rooms. The manager wasn’t there, and when I called again, I was told they wouldn’t be in until Friday, days later. The night desk woman, who had apologized and moved my mother and me to rooms on the opposite side, answered when I called. She insisted my daughter had gone into the room. I told her my daughter is 13 and that she hadn’t spoken to her. She got an attitude and told me to calm down, even though the bites still came from that establishment whether my daughter entered the first room or the replacement. She took my information and said someone would call, but it’s December 3rd now and I’ve heard nothing. We stayed November 14-16. This is ridiculous. I’d like to speak with a manager, and I’m sure the woman working the night desk on November 14 will remember me.

I thought the room looked clean at first, apart from some chipped paint on the floor. I bring my own cleaning supplies and sheets, but in the morning I found a roach crawling in the bed, three on the wall, and another on the floor. That was it for me. I’d booked three days over four nights, but my trip ended early. I went straight to the office. The woman offered another room, but my room was upstairs in the second building and she wanted to move me downstairs in the first. We had too much stuff to move, and I believe if one room has roaches, they all do. I was ready to leave. No thanks. I should’ve read the reviews.
