Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Farmington

The room was spacious enough for my grandchild to run around in, and the hotel itself was clean and nice. The price seemed fair for that part of New York. Service was lackluster, though, and breakfast was horrible: no juice at the juice bar, few pastry choices, and no fruit. Nearby food options were limited to Taco Bell, KFC, Dunkin Donuts, and a 7-Eleven.

The lobby was a pleasant place to sit, with a fireplace, a long table for laptop work, and a separate small business center. The breakfast spread included two waffle machines, cold choices, and biscuit-and-egg sandwiches and egg bites you could heat in the microwave. The bed was comfortable with nice linens. It’s a nearly new hotel in the pleasant rural Finger Lakes area, and I appreciated the earth-friendly squeeze bottles for shampoo, body wash, hand lotion, and the other toiletries.

The rooms are small, but the high ceilings make them feel bigger. It looks new or recently renovated and is a very nice hotel. KFC, Taco Bell, McDonald’s, and Burger King are all an easy walk away. I’d recommend it.

I hardly ever write reviews, but I had a hard time finding a decent place to stay overnight while passing through on my way to visit in Ohio. This Microtel was excellent and will be our go-to on this trip. The rooms have been updated, and everything was clean and modern. Comfortable bed, great shower, no real complaints. Breakfast was minimal, with the waffle station as the only hot option, plus the usual bagels, yogurt, cereal, and similar items. We used to stay around the corner, but that place has gone downhill over the last couple of years.
